Queen Victoria Market is an authentic, bustling, inner-city market that has been the heart and soul of Melbourne for 140 years. Home to over 600 small businesses, it’s a great place to discover fresh and specialty produce, hand-made and unique products, great coffee and food, souvenirs and clothing.

Shopping at the Market has always been one of life’s great pleasures. It’s not just the abundance of fresh food, it’s the friendly banter with the traders, the vibrant and multicultural atmosphere, the special events and festivals, and the sense of belonging that comes with it.

Divulging, interesting, beautiful market hall, tasty, generous tastings, a must do, excellent tour guide with a good sense of humour, very Aussie and laid back. We would do it anytime again - thank you!

A fun way to spend a Saturday morning

We toured on a rainy, Saturday morning and were in a small group of 6 people total. Our tour guide, Marcellez, gave us some history about the market and some of the many employees in the Market. We met one meat vendor who has been working there for 45 years. We made quite a few food tasting stops during the tour and thought the amount of food was plenty [meat samples (kangaroo meatballs, marinated kangaroo, chicken sausage), 3 types of cheese, 3 types of prosciutto, four types of fruit, a croissant, and a jam donut]. We expected a coffee stop, but were surprised when the tour ended at a winery where we sampled 3 types of wine. We learned a lot about the market and left feeling full.
